We've been invested in the accomplished musings of singer, songwriter and incredible guitarist Hand Habits (aka Meg Duffy) for a while now. Whilst their 2019 LP placeholder made quite the impression, comeback track '4th of july' raises the bar. Broadening their sound with the unexpected inclusion of rumbling electronics that rise through gentle layers of acoustic guitar and harpsichord, a climactic transition just after the halfway mark takes the track in a powerful new direction. Duffy gave the following insight: "'4th of july' feels like trying again, rolling around in the wreckage of the past and finding new ways out of the maze of memory. For the video, I went to V and Adam and said I wanted to 'just dig a hole' and they turned that idea into a cinematic version of what it looks like to try and get to the bottom of a feeling."
